Why You Should be Using Pinterest to Sell Your Product

You may think that Pinterest is just for bored women looking for outfit inspiration, unique wedding ideas or recipes, but it’s so much more than that. If you have a product to sell, a blog, website, Etsy shop, here is why you should be using Pinterest to market yourself.

175 MILLION people use Pinterest every month! That is not a made up number. People (mostly women) flock to Pinterest for inspiration, ideas, product recommendations, and more. It’s quickly become a handy search engine to not only get information, but also find a specific item you’re looking for, complete with a link to where it can be purchased. It turns browsers into buyers. People see it, they like it, they buy it. The path from view to purchase is short, fast and easy.

Pinterest also helps you figure out what your audience likes and what they don’t. When you create a business account with Pinterest, you get the power of analytics. The analytics give you valuable insight into what your audience is clicking, saving, and just generally responding to. And of course, what they aren’t. You can also see things like who your audience is in terms of gender and where they live. All that knowledge is power! Power that you can use to generate traffic and sales.

Pinterest pays attention. If you start pinning other people’s pins that have gone viral or have a lot of repins, it helps your profile rank higher. This means Pinterest will notice that you pin really great, in demand content and give you more exposure. Posting the best pins means more people will see you, follow you, and hopefully click on over to your website.

It gets even more interesting. People are using Pinterest to make money even when they don’t have a product to sell. They are doing this through Affiliate Marketing. What’s affiliate marketing, you ask? Basically, an online retailer pays you a commission to promote or drive traffic to their sites, resulting in sales. Pinterest put a stop to affiliate links for a period of time because spammers were abusing them. But they’ve boosted their spam detection and have begun allowing them again. I’ll go more in depth about affiliate marketing in my next post. Otherwise, the link below is not only an example of an affiliate link, but also a great book on how to get started in affiliate marketing. Affiliate Marketing: Step By Step Beginner Guide For Making Money Online

All of this info is just way too good to pass up as a business person. Why are you not using this platform to sell your products or drive traffic to your site? It’s so simple. As your audience pins your images, the people that follow them are exposed to your content. This can create a ripple effect and thus, your reach grows.

These are just a few small reasons to use Pinterest for online marketing. Just the tip of the iceberg, really. Check back for my next post on How To Get Started Using Pinterest for Online Marketing.

5 Products That Make Life with a Baby/Toddler Easier

Every so often I get asked for gift ideas by people shopping for a baby, toddler, or expectant mom. Since I’m still fairly new to motherhood people want to know what I use every day to make life a little easier. Other times the topic will come up while talking to other moms. I love sharing any information that works for my family with others. Us moms gotta stick together!  I’ve compiled a list of 5 things that my 17 month old daughter or I use every day. I’ve also provided links so you can get them too if you like what you read.

This post contains affiliate links. Which means I receive a commission that goes towards maintaining this site if you make a purchase using this link. All opinions are solely my own and I fully endorse and use these products.

1. Munchkin Click Lock™ Weighted Flexi-Straw Cup

This is number 1 in my world for products at the moment. This is my daughter’s “bottle”. When weaning her from breastfeeding we introduced whole milk in bottles, gradually dropping feedings from me and increasing the bottle feeds. When she was fully off of breast milk we introduced the Munchin Cup and stopped giving her a bottle altogether. I had heard stories from other moms about how hard it was to get their little ones off of bottles. So my husband and I wanted to avoid that issue. Our daughter used this cup easily from day one and we never went back to bottles. She can hold it easily and the straw allows her to drink without having to tip the cup upward. The straw has a weight on the end so no matter how she holds the cup, the bottom of the straw goes to the liquid. The lid flips over the flexible straw to avoid spills on the go. It’s brilliant. It’s also dishwasher safe which is a bonus in my books.

2. Munchkin Snack Catcher

Next up is the Munchkin Snack Catcher. I don’t know what I’d do without these cups. They are another fantastic design from Munchkin. The lid has soft, flexible flaps that allow little hands to push through easily to get at the snacks, yet they don’t allow said snacks to spill out all over the house or car. Munchkin describes the lid “allows independent toddlers to self-feed with a bit more dexterity and a lot less mess.” I use these cups every day. It’s also a bonus that they come in two packs because inevitably, I only ever know where one is at a time. Sometimes one is in the car and the other is in the diaper bag. And other times my daughter has left one somewhere creative in the house. Like the bathtub, for instance.

3. VTech Sit-to-Stand Ultimate Alphabet Train

This is the toy with the most longevity that I’ve experienced. From the time my daughter could sit up, this has been a daily playtime item. It’s educational and offers lots of buttons, blocks, dials, colours, and sounds.  It’s designed to grow with your child from floor time play, to stand and walk behind, ride on the caboose, or detach the caboose to pull behind like a wagon. It helps develop fine motor skills, has a clock, teaches letters of the alphabet, colours, animal sounds and even weather. And I can’t leave out the fun walkie talkie. My 17 month old still loves this toy. It truly is the gift that keeps on giving!

4. Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Baby’s First Doll

My daughter sleeps with this doll every night. It’s small and very light. There’s nothing on it that could pose a danger to her. It’s super soft and huggable. It’s easy to pack for overnights. It doesn’t have any long hair that after a week of use is a tangled mess. I personally like that it’s not overly girlie (other than the pink). I hate dolls that look like they are wearing makeup or just generally seem to be giving off the wrong impression to a young girl. I’m flashing back to my childhood love of Barbie Dolls. Now, as a mother I can’t believe the message a Barbie sends to a little girl. This is just a very simple looking doll. No muss, no fuss. She also has a rattle inside to stimulate a young baby.

5. Brica® Baby In-Sight® Car Back Seat Mirror

This item gave me great piece of mind as a new mom and still today, nearly 17 months later. I hadn’t installed it yet on my first few outings with a newborn and I really disliked not being able to see my brand new bundle as she was rear facing. Once I installed this mirror it made a huge difference in our car time. She could see me. I could see her. It’s still up and we both still love it. I can’t imagine not having it. I love being able to look in my rear view mirror and see if she needs me or if she’s just chillin’, enjoying the ride, or really digging a song on the radio.

First Post…here we go!

Hello and Welcome to LifeStyle Love!

I’ll give you a brief intro into who I am. You can read more if you feel inclined on the About Me page.

I’m Karen. I’m a wife and a mom.

As I type this my 16 month old daughter is trying to climb me. T-minus 2 hours until nap time! I am a lover of many things including yoga, horseback riding, animals, photography, and art, to name a few.  I love being a mom more than I ever thought I would. I really wanted to stay home with my daughter. But the reality is there are bills to pay. After a year of maternity leave, I decided to go back to work part-time while still pursuing other ways to make money from home.

Enter, blogging and online marketing. I was looking for something I could do to contribute financially to our bills and still leave some time (outside of being a mom) for my own interests. I believe moms (and dads) need to maintain who they truly are while still being a great parent. Kids need to know their parents have an identity. Something that makes them, THEM! No child will benefit in the long run having burnt out, stressed parents.

Thus, here begins my journey of working towards a legit “side hustle”. If you are in the same boat as me, join me as I discover what works and what doesn’t. I’ll also be exploring parenting techniques, recipes, life hacks, and anything else I think others may have interest in or could benefit from.

I hope I can help my readers live a lifestyle they truly love. Let’s all strive to be busy loving life, instead of just paying bills and keeping the tiny humans alive.
